About Irene Panayi
Irene Panayi lives in Nicosia, Cyprus. She is a a Circular Fashion Designer, founder of the brand Arcaδia. Lover of the environment, arts and altruism. So within her brand she is doing mending, remaking and new clothes from fabrics that where gone to thrown away or new fabrigs that are friendly to the environment and human body, always in a sustainableand ethical way. She is also doing upcycling workshops with materials that could be waste like small pieces of fabric or plastic bottles, turning them into useful things!
She is an active member of Fashion Revolution Cyprus and Fashion Heritage Network Cyprus.
She believes that the change begins with all of us, within the small habits of our daily life.
My work
On this form i have attached 3 of my creations. The jean upcycled kimono which was the first challange for me to make an upcycled/patchwork garment and it can make anyone who is seeing it to think twice throwing away their unwanted clothes and here is coming the environmental challenge with propose of solutions and the intersection of art, nature
The beige kimono has on the bag a fully weaved piece i have made myself at the age of 14 and 2 years ago i used it for this kimono since it didn’t have any other use and here is comung the intersection of sustainability and culture.
This piece was an exhibit at REVIVE exhibition of Fashion Heritage Network Cyprus.
And the last one is the first collection of upcycle kimonos of my brand Arcaδia which are made from fabrics that were going to be thrown away.
