About Aurora Bresci
Aurora Bresci is a Tuscan artist who integrates painting, installation and recycling into her work, exploring environmental and social issues. A graduate in Art History, she combines her academic training with a strong commitment to sustainability. Her creations are often made using recycled materials and foreign objects to raise awareness and give new life to waste. His works range from set design to costumes, from paper art to painting, always seeking a dialogue between art and ecological awareness. His installations and painting, often denunciatory, aim to raise awareness of respect for the environment and the importance of protecting natural spaces, showing how art can be a powerful tool for change. His artistic research continues to evolve with a strong social and environmental commitment, seeking to create a deep connection between art and the reality that surrounds us.
My work
Aurora Bresci is an artist committed to raising public awareness of environmental pollution issues, in particular the problem of cigarette butts abandoned on beaches. Her artistic practice is based on collecting this waste, which is transformed into artefacts and works of art, bringing to light the serious consequences of its dispersion in the environment.
In an original and provocative project, Bresci uses cigarette butts to create swimming costumes and other summer garments, making the pollution that blights our beaches visible and tangible. The swimming costume, a universal symbol of summer, holiday and leisure, is transformed into a powerful instrument of denunciation, becoming the vehicle to tell the reality of marine pollution.
Through these installations and works, the artist aims to make the public reflect on the devastating impact of an often underestimated daily gesture: throwing cigarette butts on the ground. Each piece of cigarette collected becomes, in Aurora Bresci’s hands, a message of awareness, in which aesthetic beauty merges with an important ecological cause.
